Midi skirts have been a favorite for such a long while now. But I just didn’t know how to wear them and being 5″1′ and having a paunch that sat right at my waist didn’t help either. So I stopped wearing them altogether.
Dresses have always been my go-to outfits and this one evening when I had to head out for an event, the dresses just didn’t seem ‘dressy’ enough. I’d just purchased this knife pleated golden metallic midi skirt that I decided to wear, ditching my dresses.
Styling separates doesn’t come easy for me, which is also one of the main reason I lean towards wearing one quirky dress and getting my look ready to get out and about!
Pleats are appearing as a micro trend this year and I really hope they can replace the off-shoulder and we can move past it real soon. I’ve tried to flout convention in the pursuit of finding a sense of style that’s more ‘me’ than ‘on trend’, and it’s not been easy to say the least.
On a usual day, I would have paired this with a plain basic black top, but being in, studying and watching so much fashion has helped articulate my style quite well. Let me know what you think!
